In order to connect GPS device with Computer correctly by using USB cord please follow below steps:-
Find a compatible USB cord that comes with GPS device.
Turn off your GPS device before connecting it to computer.
Connect the tail or small side of the cord into the GPS.
And connect the other big tail side i.e. USB into the computer.
Wait for 20-30 seconds until your GPS automatically turn on with logo.
Now you will see a proper USB connection icon on your GPS screen.
